Our Campaign

As IM’s we are still unable to get professional indemnity insurance and it is possible that in the future contracting in to the NHS may be the only way we can work legally.  We have a dead line of 2013 and desperately need to find a way to get insurance to be legal midwives. Our annual registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Committee will not be continued without insurance. Thanks to everyone who wrote or spoke with their MP, and to those who emailed the relevant members of parliament.

There has been some movement – a group Dept of Health ministers, Cathy Warwick of the NMC and our Insurance contacts, and possible others) has been set up to try to find a way to solve this problem. It is a big step forward but it is likely that we will again need to mobilize our supporters, but at the moment, it is just a wait and see situation. We will keep you informed.

We would still like to have a page on our website tracking our babies.  The first babe’s birth in Yorkshire that I, Chris, attended will be 18 this year! If you would like to send us a picture of them with any comments we would be happy to put them on our website. Or if they would like to send one them selves, with or without a “what I am up to now” That would be good.
